earthyplates ceilp

ceilp

£90.00

Scots Gaelic for: ‘kelp’.

Unearthed in 2018 in Notting Hill, London using small batch glazes and British clay. Here I mixed stoneware and earthenware clays together and then chose glazes that would blister when fired at high temperature. I was trying to replicate sea-kelp with its wonderful movement in low tide and its balloon-like bobbles (which are actually the reproductive part of the seaweed!) Unfortunately this blistering means this particular piece is not food-safe and should instead be enjoyed as you would a sculpture.

Approximate measurements: 0.91lb // H:9cm // W:14.5cm

Like all the mysterious fauna and flora we co-inhabit with, my ceramics are unique - what you own will not be replicated. Please do take care!
