earthyplates neo-aithnichte

neo-aithnichte

£80.00

Scots Gaelic for: ‘unknown’.

This jug was unearthed in Mexico in 2023 using small batch glazes and local Oaxacan clay. I threw her using a simple modern wheel in a funky studio called Espacio Comal in Oaxaca City.

I only made a handful of pieces during my time in Oaxaca and each is wildly different due to the nature of the original clay (barro) and the techniques I played with thereafter.

‘neo-aithnichte’ has mesmerising speckles which shine through where I choose not to glaze the clay. The matted colours resemble the ability to be camouflaged - many walls across the city were of similar colour - as being able to temporarily disappear into the ether is something I think would bring me a lot of peace!

Approximate measurements:  0.84lb // W:8cm // H:11cm

Like all the mysterious fauna and flora we co-inhabit with, my ceramics are unique - what you own will not be replicated. Please do take care!
